William Dinsmore Sartwelle was born on May 2, 1852 in Matagorda County, Texas and married Caroline Olivia Tucker on February 19, 1878 in Comanche, Texas. He died on September 4, 1897 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Lot 15 or 16, Avenue A, Comanche. William and Caroline had seven children:

William Dinsmore Sartwelle was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church on March 18, 1876 and priest on June 3, 1877.
